English Dear XXX, The new collective agreements have now been approved by FOA’s members, which is very positive news. For you, this not only means higher pay over the coming years. It also means that FOA and 3F will no longer have joint collective agreements. In the future, your agreement will be negotiated by a single union—either FOA or 3F. This is part of an agreement we have made to move beyond the many disagreements regarding joint agreements and to create better frameworks going forward. Because your collective agreement will now belong to 3F, you have an important opportunity: You can choose a dual membership. This means you will become a member of both FOA and 3F, with full rights in both organisations. Among other things, you will be able to: participate in member meetings in both organisations vote in collective agreement ballots stand for election and vote for shop stewards have influence where your collective agreement is negotiated At the same time, you will only pay membership dues in one place, just as you do today. This is our way of ensuring that you do not lose rights or influence during the transition. If you do not wish to have dual membership, you can choose to remain in your current union, FOA, as you know it. You need to make a choice If you want dual membership, you must actively opt in. You will have the opportunity to do so up until 1 July 2026, when you can inform us of your decision. If you do not choose dual membership, you will remain a member of your current union, but you will not have the same rights in the union that will hold your collective agreement going forward. For example, you will not be able to influence your agreement, and it will not be possible to pursue a union case if you are not a member of the organisation that owns the agreement. We therefore recommend that you accept this offer. We understand that this is a significant change. For most people, however, everyday working life will remain the same. Your salary and employment terms will not change. But it is important that you remain properly covered—also in the future. To become a dual member, you must also give consent for us to share your information with 3F, as we otherwise cannot administer the dual membership.
